No win no fee* in Bala – victims of violent crimes

If you have been the victim of a violent crime, and been unable to claim compensation from your assailant, you may be entitled to claim instead from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme.  This is a government-funded scheme that is administered by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).

You have 2 years from the date of the incident to make a claim, and it must have been reported to the police or they will not consider any compensation.  You should also have helped the police with their enquiries, to give them the best chance of apprehending the guilty party.

Your criminal injury compensation amount can be affected if you have a criminal record, even if you were totally blameless in the incident that led to your injury.  There is a penalty points system in place for such cases which awards points from 1 to 10, each point being worth a 10% reduction in your criminal injury claim.

If you find yourself in this situation, you should be speaking to no win no fee* Bala lawyers about making a criminal injury claim.

The under age claimants still need to contact no win no fee* Bala lawyers

If you were under 18 at the time of the incident, hopefully a parent or guardian will claim on your behalf.  If they did not, you have until your 20th birthday to make your criminal injury claim.

    • Probate expenses
    • Loss of earnings
    • Special expenses payments where the item is not obtainable free of charge from any other source
    • Bereavement payments
    • Child payments
    • Dependency payments
    • Funeral expenses
