Stepps is a small town in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, and incorporates the village of Stepps along with other former villages. It was a rural community until the railway arrived there in the mid-nineteenth century. The mine at Cardowan was started to be sunk in 1924 and it was completed in 1928, with the colliery being one with the most gas in Europe. The gas was sold to the Scottish Gas Board and the distillers, Buchanan. The mine was the scene of several fatal accidents and it was eventually closed in 1983. It was the last operational deep mine to be worked in Lanarkshire.
Have you had a whiplash injury in Stepps?
If you had been close to the site of an explosion in a mine, or a blast in a quarry, you could have been blown off your feet and suffered a whiplash injury near Stepps. You don’t just get whiplash injuries in car crashes. Your whiplash injury in Stepps could have been the result of a knock on the head, or an impact which sent you flying. If you have a whiplash injury in Stepps right now, you might be contemplating making a personal injury compensation claim for it, but perhaps you don’t really know how to begin one.
How to start your claim
First of all you need to find a personal injury lawyer in order to discuss the reasons you have for believing you have a claim to make. This may not be easy as lawyers then to specialize in one or two areas of the claims’ law and if your claim is to have a chance of success, you need one who is an expert in the appropriate field. For example, if your accident happened at work, you would need a lawyer who specializes in handling claims for clients who have had accidents in their workplaces rather than one who specializes in accidents in public places.
Remember that you must be able to prove that the accident in which you were injured was not your fault, but that another person was to blame.
Your personal injury lawyer will also need your medical report, so you must have seen a doctor as soon as you could after your accident.
It can be extremely time-consuming to find an appropriate personal injury lawyer and it requires a lot of effort, which perhaps you don’t feel well enough to expend on the task. If you need an appropriate lawyer, call us at Accident Advice Helpline as we can probably put you in touch with one of our team of expert personal injury lawyers who all work on a no win, no fee* basis.
