One thing about whiplash injury that we are often asked, here at Accident Advice Helpline, is this: when you are recovering from whiplash, how can you get back to your normal everyday activities?
Returning to normal during your recovery
We understand that it must be difficult to know what you should do to have an effective recovery from a whiplash injury in Sheringham.
Of course, your GP will have given you some advice on what to do during your recovery, but these might be limited to directions on taking pain medication, getting adequate rest and what you can and cannot do in terms of physical activity, especially where it is related to your job.
Some tips on getting back into the swing of things
Some of this advice may sound strange, but then, a lot of people are still under the impression that you should wear a neck brace to recover from a whiplash injury – and that’s something which is actually not recommended!
The first thing is to avoid doing anything strenuous, such as playing contact sports, while you recover. It may actually be the case that it is a contact sport that caused you to get whiplash, so this advice probably won’t come as a surprise!
Secondly, when you feel comfortable driving again, make sure your driving position is comfortable, your seat is adjusted properly and the top of your head restraint is level with the top of your head! This could prevent whiplash in future.
Thirdly, do some gentle stretching every so often and avoid sitting constantly for long periods. Break your day up a bit!
