Ravenglass is a coastal village in Cumbria, in the north west of Britain. It is situated at the end of an extension to Hadrian’s Wall, which runs from east to west, marking a defensive line at the northern most border of the Roman Empire. Hadrian was the emperor who had it built, although it was probably started before he came to power. The purpose of the wall was to separate the Romans from the “barbarians.” These would possibly have included the blue-painted (or tattooed) Picts, Celts from the Scottish Highlands, who regularly raided Roman territory.
Whiplash injury in Ravenglass
Did you know you could sustain a whiplash injury in Ravenglass, or anywhere else, if you fell from a height, such as a stone wall? Not that we’re suggesting you should clamber all over such a historic monument, dislodging the stones of heritage. However, a victim is at risk of sustaining whiplash injury from any sudden crash or bang, from an impact in a vehicle, to falling off a bicycle.
What should you do if you are suffering from a whiplash injury?
Your neck will be painful and tender, and you will find it difficult, or virtually impossible to get comfortable. Rest, and take painkillers. Do also see your doctor to ensure there are no hidden symptoms, which could cause complications later. Most whiplash injury sufferers recover within a week or two, but should you have additional symptoms, you should return to your GP for further tests. These symptoms include:
- Blurred vision
- Pins and needles or numbness in the arms
- Nausea or dizziness
You will not be fit to drive and you will probably be off work, in which case, you may suffer a drop in income. On top of that, you could have extra bills for care and support.
