    Whiplash Injury in Radlett

Radlett in Hertfordshire is located on Watling Street. We hope you didn’t suffer a whiplash injury in Radlett on this historic highway. So what’s with Watling Street, you may ask? Starting in Dover, it was the main east to west route across Britain, reaching its most northerly point at Wroxeter in Shropshire before dropping southwards again into Wales. It’s an ancient thoroughfare, built by the Romans, and the site of an iconic battle at St. Albans, also on Watling Street, where Boudicca, the Queen of the Celtic Iceni tribe staged an uprising against the invading Romans. Whilst the Roman Emperor Suetonius Paulinus was busy putting down a revolt in Anglesey, Boudicca and her wild-haired troop smashed up Colchester.

    Fast track to the fighting

Suetonius rushed back to Londinium, but the Romans were too thin on the ground to hold it, so they retreated. Boudicca’s forces destroyed Londinium and then advanced to Verulanium (St. Albans) and smashed that town too. The Romans defeated Boudicca at the Battle of Watling Street, and consequently were able to remain in Britain. Boudicca is an iconic figure in English history and features in many literary and cultural themes. Prince Albert commissioned the statue of the warrior queen and her daughters. It stands next to Westminster Bridge and the Houses of Parliament.

    Whiplash injury in Radlett

No doubt, there would have been many a whiplash injury in the fierce fighting of those ancient battles. The unfortunate wounded warriors didn’t have recourse to personal injury compensation. Your whiplash may not have been caused when a hulking great Roman soldier knocked you out of your war chariot and sent you cartwheeling over the handlebars. However, in this day and age, if your whiplash injury in Radlett – or anywhere along Watling Street – has been caused by a third party, you could be entitled to claim compensation.
