Could you claim compensation for a whiplash injury in Saltdean
Saltdean is a coastal village in East Sussex. As we are never sure how long summer might last in Britain, we tend to rush into the great outdoors whenever we get a moment, dressed in as little as possible and often with nothing on our feet. We drink in the heat and almost moan in ecstasy as we smell the roses and see the dancing butterflies glide across our little patches of greenness. It is usually then that it happens, we go from the garden of delight to the Garden of Eden in one fail swoop. It not usually a serpent which cause s the chaos but it might well as be when one of those pesky bugs rages war against you. You’ve been bitten or stung.
What to do
- Bites or stings can occur from any number of insects and some are much more painful than others. In any situation where a bite or sting affects the mouth or even the throat and there are signs of an allergic reaction and difficulty breathing, you should get medical help immediately.
- Some stings, for instance from bees, result in the sting being left behind in the skin. First of all, you should carefully remove the sting by flicking the sting out with a sharp knife being careful not to cut the patient. Tweezers can be used but sometimes these can result in squeezing the poison sac of the sting and this sends more toxins into the puncture hole.
- A drop of Lavender or Tea Tree oils may be applied to the area ideally with some iced water. This should be repeated every ten minutes until the irritation and pain levels have gone down.
- If possible, apply ice to the area as soon as possible to reduce inflammation and swelling. If the sting is from a bee you could use bicarbonate of soda to clean the area. However, if the sting is from a wasp, it is better to use diluted lemon juice or vinegar. Bites should be thoroughly cleaned before anything is applied to them.
