"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Whiplash injury in Chacombe

Whiplash injury fraudsters are making life more difficult for genuine injury sufferers. In the future, if you suffer a whiplash injury in Chacombe, or anywhere else here in the UK, you could find the compensation claim process more taxing than it has been previously. It’s an important reason for ensuring the injury claim solicitor you entrust with your claim, knows what they’re about, and here at Accident Advice Helpline nobody knows the pitfalls better than us.

Whiplash injury fraudsters give the UK motorist a bad name

The fact of the matter is that whiplash injury claims have reached epidemic levels. In the last 12 months over 477,000 claims were registered. That’s almost one every single minute. It is hardly surprisingly the UK is known as “The Whiplash Injury Claim Capital of Europe.”

Fraudulent whiplash claims push up the cost of insurance

Of all the low value motoring injury claims registered every year, over 78% are for whiplash injury, whereas throughout the rest of Europe, the figure averages out at only around 48%. A spokesman for the Association of British Insurers has said that it’s past time something was done about the situation. It seems that approximately 20% of insurance premiums (somewhere around £90 per policy), relate solely to the high incidence rate of whiplash injury.

Whiplash injury claims should be accompanied by proof of injury

The government has now joined the argument suggesting three approaches. Firstly they are discouraging insurance companies from processing claims for compensation unless they have been given proof positive of the injury.

Special medical boards to be set up

Secondly they are suggesting that medical practitioners should attend courses to familiarise themselves with the complete range of symptoms relating to whiplash injury in the hope they will become more capable of spotting fraudulent claims. They’ve further suggested that special medical panels be set up with the express purpose of vetting overly extravagant claims.

The need for proofs and witness statements

The most important thing is that genuine whiplash injury sufferers should not be penalised from accessing appropriate compensation. So here at AAH we are spreading the word that all whiplash injury claims should ideally be accompanied by medical proof, plus if possible, the names and addresses of any witnesses to the incident. This would not only confirm the veracity of any claim, but will also speed up the compensation process.
