    Thanet Accident at Work Claim

Safety working in a hospital and how to make an accident at work claim

If you are working in a hospital then it is generally understood that you are a member of medical staff and ths know exactly how to keep yourself as safe as possible from illness and disease. However, not everyone who works in a hospital is a doctor or nurse, and you might be working in the canteen or gift shop, or as a cleaner, and still come into contact with these dangerous situations.

Here are some of the ways in which you can protect yourself against some of the hazards of working in a hospital, so that you can enjoy your job without having to worry about coming into contact with risks all of the time.

    • Know your way around. Make sure that before you start working full time you have been shown where everything is, especially in the areas where you are mostly working. This will help you to avoid areas which could cause you harm, and keeps you in the areas that you need to be in.
    • Wash your hands. Make sure that you wash your hands all of the time when you are working in a hospital, and have plenty of disposable gloves around so that you can change your gloves as and when you need to. This simple step can help to stop the worst diseases and bacterias from spreading.
    • Dispose of things properly. Hospitals have special bins for everything, from tissue and cleaning products to things like syringes and other sharp objects. Always make sure that you know exactly where to throw something and never simply guess or assume that it will be ok.
    • Watch children. Make sure that you keep an eye on children at all times, so that they are not wandering into dangerous areas or causing trouble where they shouldn’t. This is for their own safety, as well as yours and the safety of those around you.
