Safety in driving jobs, and how to find a good legal team if you need one

If you are working in a driving job, then you should be given plenty of training and health and safety instruction before you begin, so that you can be sure of staying safe throughout your job. However, there are some really basic steps you can learn in order to stay safe in any driving job, which will help you to enjoy your job more and know that you are always doing what you can to do the best job possible without risking your life or the lives of others. Here are some tips for being as safe as you can in any driving job:

    • Don’t drive anything with which you aren’t comfortable. You need to be careful that even if your licence says you can drive a certain vehicle, you only drive it if you feel comfortable. Some larger vehicles can be difficult to drive, so don’t feel pressured into it if you are afraid of losing your job otherwise.
    • Take plenty of breaks. Driving is actually really tiring, so if you work a nine-hour shift of driving you are likely to be far more tired than if you worked nine hours in an office. At the same time, being tired on the road is dangerous for you and those around you. Make sure you take lots of breaks and don’t drive if you are overtired.
    • Get help with loading and unloading. Those working in driving jobs will generally have a delivery aspect to their job, for which you may not be prepared or trained. Never try to lift or carry anything too heavy if you can’t handle it. Ask for another driver to join you and help, or for equipment which lightens the load.
