A lot of Tamworth road traffic accidents are caused by reckless drivers. If you’ve been injured in an RTA as a result of someone else driving recklessly, you can commission Accident Advice Helpline to help you to register a claim for personal injury.
Patience – please!
Driving recklessly is often caused by people being into too much of a rush to get to their destination. If they get stuck behind someone who is not driving as fast as they would like, they will often do their best to tray and get past them at the first opportunity, and will subsequently take unnecessary risks to do so. That not only puts themselves in danger, but puts other road users in danger too.
Why drive like “Secret Squirrel?”
One of the classic causes of RTAs is someone deciding to overtake without first checking their mirrors. Another one is failing to turn their indicators off having completed an overtaking manoeuvre. If they then pull out to overtake again, following traffic can be caught out by surprise.
They get tired of trying to second-guess driver’s intentions, and then often assume he/she has just forgotten to turn their indicator off and start to overtake. The forgetful driver may then inadvertently pull out into them or in front of them, and bingo – an accident.
Blind man’s buff
Would you consider driving if you couldn’t see? It’s not a stupid question; some people actually do something very similar when they try to overtake when fast approaching a blind bend. They begin to overtake not knowing what might be coming the other way. It’s sheer folly, and when something suddenly appears around the bend, it often causes accidents.
Follow the leader (too closely)
Getting too close to the vehicle in front is a real recipe for disaster. It leaves you little or no time to react to a situation whereby the vehicle in front may brake. It also intimidates the driver in front and may force them into a silly error.
