How to cook for a lot of people easily and safely, and make an accident at work compensation claim if something goes wrong

Perhaps you are just starting out in a restaurant or bar job where you are cooking for a large number of people for the first time, or maybe you are simply hosting your first dinner party when you have never cooked for more than two or three people in the past.

Whatever the reason that you are suddenly cooking for a lot of people at once, it is important that you know how best to do it, and how to do it safely so that you don’t get injured and so that everyone enjoys their meal. Here are some tips to make it easier for you to cook for large numbers of people at the same time.

    • Take your time. Even if you are trying to cook for a lot of people at once and feel that you need to get it done quite quickly, you still need to take your time so as not to cause any accidents or otherwise injure yourself. Rushing can also cause you to ruin the food that you are trying to prepare.
    • Prepare in advance. Even in the best restaurants, chefs will prepare a lot of the food in advance so that it just needs to be heated up. This will save you a lot of time on the night and help you to focus on the things that you do need to prepare right away.
    • Get help. You should never try to do everything yourself if there are people available to help. Even if you just have a few people to help with chopping, or serving, this prevents you from getting too stressed and trying to do too many things at once.
    • Safety first. Always know exactly what you need to do to be safe. Put knives away after you have used them, wash up as you go along to prevent cross-contamination and so on.
