You may be thinking about making stress free claims in Gwynedd either because you were involved in an accident that was no fault of yours, or because you have an illness that was caused by another person’s negligence.

The illness could be work-related or perhaps food poisoning which you developed after eating out.

Your stress free claims in Gwynedd

You need to file stress free claims in Gwynedd, or elsewhere, usually within three years of the date of your accident, or within three years of first being diagnosed with a work-related illness.

However there are some instances when you have to file an injury claim within two years of the accident.

These are accidents which happen at sea, or in the air, as they are governed by international conventions. It is best to check with your accident solicitor how long you have in which to file a claim.

How much will you get for your injuries?

You may be surprised to learn that no one can tell you precisely how much you may receive in compensation as there are so many factors to take into consideration.

Your solicitor will only be able to give you an estimate after studying your medical report, doing research into how much compensation has been awarded to people with injuries such as yours in the recent past and also consulting the Judicial Studies Board (now the Judicial College) guidelines.

The guidelines give broad bands of amounts within the areas of minor, moderate, serious and severe injuries. For example, for moderate neck injuries you might get anything between £5,600 and £9,800. This sum covers the pain, distress and suffering that your injury has caused you.

You can also claim compensation for medical expenses (prescription charges, equipment and so on) if you have receipts. If you are unable to do something you enjoyed doing before your injury, perhaps playing tennis or gardening for example, then you can claim compensation for what is termed loss of amenity.

You will receive compensation for any medical treatment which you had to pay for, and if you need care for the rest of your life, this will be covered along with future costs of medical treatment and so on.

You also get compensation for loss of earnings, so people who earn more than others will receive more. Compensation ranges from several hundred pounds to multi-million pound payouts for people who have suffered life-changing injuries.
