St Helens accident at work compensation

Problems you may encounter as a shop assistant, and when to make an accident at work compensation claim

If you are working as a shop assistant, you can expect to deal with a range of different problems in your day to day life. Many people think that working as a shop assistant is easy, but this is not the case at all. As the face behind the workings of the store, you are the person that customers will come to with problems, and that managers will go to with messages for you to pass onto customers.

If you do your job well then you can ensure the popularity of the store and that you will continue to rise up the ranks within your own store, until you reach management level. Here are some ways to deal with the problems that you may encounter at work.

    • Angry customers. Being at the front of house will always put you in front of customers who may be having problems or may be angry. If a customer approaches you and they are angry try to keep calm and stay polite so as not to anger them further, and if you feel that the situation is out of your control you should let a manager know.
    • Spills and other hazards. With so many people and products around, the shop floor is a place which can have many hazards. If you see a hazard you should make it your priority to eliminate it before someone gets hurt.
    • Customer problems. These can include faulty items, customers being overcharged, returns and refunds and so on. You may be able to deal with these on your own, but don’t try to deal with a situation that you aren’t trained for, and try to find a manager instead.
    • People acting dangerously. Children running through the store, people being unruly or moving things to places where they shouldn’t be can cause problems. Try to be vigilant and deal with these situations before you do anything else.
