    South Yorkshire compensation

Timing is important in all walks of life including the search for personal injury compensation. Start too late and you may miss your chance altogether, but start too early and you may not receive the full amount of compensation to which you’re entitled. This article has two aims to tell you what’s available for a South Yorkshire compensation claim and to help you decide when you should start making a claim.

    Time is ticking

The important thing to remember is that the clock starts ticking from the moment you are in an accident. The law in the UK states that you can only make a claim for any accident which has happened within the last three years. If you leave it longer than that, then you’ll have missed your chance altogether.

It might not seem fair, but it is a rule which applies to everyone. So the lesson there is that you shouldn’t waste time. And that’s true – you should start looking into your options as soon as you can.

To do this, you can call Accident Advice Helpline. This is a chance to look into the merits of your case and decide one way or another whether you can indeed make a claim. Calling this phone line is free of charge and it doesn’t mean that you’ll have to launch a full scale personal injury claim.

That’s lucky because it’s not really a good idea to launch a claim unless you have all the information. One of the more common errors people make is to start claims before they’ve fully recovered. That’s a bad idea because compensation is often determined by the length of the recovery.

So, let’s say that your initial prognosis is for a recovery within six months. You launch a claim and are awarded compensation on the basis that you’ll be back in full working order within that time. However, if recovery takes eight months you’ll have missed out on two months which should have been accounted for in your claim.
