South Hams no win no fee

Personal Injury Solicitors in South Hams

Everything in life involves a little risk, but when it comes to making personal injury claims you will naturally want to keep that risk to a minimum. That’s why, if you live in South Hams, ‘no win, no fee*’ personal injury claims can be the best way to help you get the justice you’re looking for without having to risk your life savings.

South Hams ‘no win, no fee*’ claims

The services of a lawyer do not come cheap and if a case goes any decent length of time then there is a fair chance that most of us would not be able to afford the fees. If we win the case then that’s okay because we’ll have the compensation settlement to cushion the blow, but if not then that’s when things can get a little difficult. Nobody wants to lose a case only to find that they are then saddled with a great big legal bill that they somehow have to pay off. We’re here to stop that from happening.

We do this by working on the basis of no win no fee*. This became popular after the removal of legal aid from the vast majority of personal injury cases back in the year 2000. The government allowed law firms to charge slightly more, if they were willing to take on the risk of losing a case. It means that if you were to win a case with them, then you may well end up paying some of the legal fees of the other side. In general you should be looking to pay no more than 25% of any compensation agreement that you receive.

Until recently, the government allowed lawyers to claim their success fees from the other side. This meant it was very rare for the claimant to be forced to pay anything at all, even if they were successful with a claim, but this no longer happens. These days you’ll have to find the money from somewhere if you win a case.

That’s why ‘no win, no fee*’ is seen as the safest way to claim compensation. However, there are other options. You might decide to take our claims insurance which provides cover in the event that you are not successful with your case. However, there are still premiums to pay and if your insurance company has placed an excess amount on your policy you may still find yourself having to pay out something if you win your case.
