Have you been injured while out and about in Trafalgar Square? If so, read our quick guide which will tell you everything you need to know about finding solicitors in Trafalgar Square to help you make a claim.
Injured in a public space
When you’ve been hurt in a public space, the question of whether or not you’re entitled to compensation will depend on what the organisation responsible for the running of that space has done to reduce the likelihood of accidents. If you’re in a public space such as Trafalgar Square, that organisation would be the local authority, and they should have taken out public liability insurance to cover you for any accidents that might happen.
One example of this could be a woman who takes a tumble down a step that she didn’t see and injures her ankle. She might make a claim against the council for failing to flag up that there was a step there in the first place. The council might, on the other hand, argue that the step has always been there, and that she should have seen it; in other words, that it is our own responsibility for ensuring our own safety by using the eyes we have.

In this instance, it’s fair to say that the incident might be bitterly contested between the parties and that it may go to court. If this happens, the victim would have to prove to the court that the council had been negligent in not signposting the possibility of danger. She could do this by taking pictures of the environment as it was when the accident happened.
It would then be down to the court to make a decision as to whether or not they believe the council could and should have done more to highlight the existence of the step and warn people accordingly.
What we offer
At Accident Advice Helpline, we could have offered a service which would take an honest look at the evidence and tell the woman one way or another about how good her chances of success might have been. If we’d have thought that there wasn’t a very good claim to make, for example, we could have told her so. While this would not be the ideal thing she’s looking to hear, it would at least have avoided the issue of making a claim which had only a limited chance of success. As such, it would reduce disappointment and the amount of time and money wasted for all sides.
No win no fee
Because this claim is contested, though, there would be a real risk that the courts find against her. As such, it’s nice to know that we offer the chance to find solicitors in Trafalgar Square who offer no win no fee, which reduces the financial risk of making a claim.
