A tornado in Stocksfield

Recently, there was a very bizarre and unsettling weather story that hit the news when a tornado disrupted Stocksfield, UK. It is very rare for a tornado to be seen in the UK and on this occasion many wished it was something that couldn’t happen – ever! Huge disruption was caused, due to the storm that approached the town of Stocksfield back in August, but things only got worse when locals began to see a tornado blazing towards the area.

Cars were overturned, trees knocked down and houses damaged as this whirlwind of freak weather hit the town in England.

What is a tornado?

A tornado is essentially a wind funnel that then becomes a tornado when it hits the ground. The wind funnel acts as a large vacuum and sucks and spits out anything in its way. It has the strength to tear through buildings and wreck cars and gardens. In the US, there are a number of tornado’s each year and sadly many people are killed due to the freak weather. The UK are lucky as it is very rare for a tornado to hit here/ However, when it happens, it happens.

In this situation, there weren’t any reports of people being injured due to the tornado directly. However, terrible weather conditions such as these can cause people to panic and in turn cause accidents trying to get home or to safety. It is in situations like these, Accident Advice Helpline come in. We help people who can prove that they have been involved in an accident within the past three years that was the fault of someone else.
