Get rid of neck pain
Neck pain can happen for a number of reasons, but will make it difficult to get through the day as it affects how you hold yourself and what you are able to do. Your neck can be sore because of bad posture, because you have had an accident or from working for too long without any breaks. To stop neck pain for good you really do need to deal with the root cause of the pain, but whilst your neck is hurting here are a few ways that you can deal with the injury.
- Exercise the muscles. This does not mean doing anything high impact or too vigorous, but gently loosening up your neck by rotating your head slowly but thoroughly. If you feel more pain in one direction than another this will indicate where your neck is damaged, and you should stop when it gets painful.
- Take painkillers. This is not a long term solution, but something that will work in the short term to help you to get through the day. If you find that standard paracetamol or aspirin aren’t working, try something stronger such as paracetamol and codeine tablets.
- Take a bath or shower. The steam from a hot bath or shower will help to loosen up the tension in your neck, and make you feel more relaxed as well.
- Try a heating pad. A hot water bottle will work as well. Just place the back of your neck against the pad and let the heat loosen up the muscles for you. If you use a hot water bottle be careful not to make it too hot.
