    Preventing accidents on holiday

When you are on holiday, it is likely that your guard will be down and you will be feeling more relaxed. Although this is exactly what holidays are for, and you should be enjoying every moment as much as possible, you should also be aware that there are still dangers to be avoided on holiday as much as when you are at home. Many people forget that they still need to be careful on holiday, and this can cause an accident which could ruin your holiday. Here are some tips for avoiding accidents on holiday.

    • Drink less. Holidays are a time when everyone relaxes and tends to drink and party more than they would at home. In some cases this means you will drink earlier in the day than you usually would, which makes it less likely that you will be able to see potential hazards and avoid them. Try to limit your drinking as much as you would when you are at home.
    • Stick to what you know. Although a holiday may seem like the perfect opportunity to enjoy activities you would never consider at home, these activities are just as dangerous abroad as they are at home, so make sure you stick to activities run by a company you trust, or avoid them altogether.
    • Stick with your travelling companions. You will be safer and more likely to avoid potential dangers if you are all looking out for each other, and are also less likely to be a victim to thieves and muggers if you stick to a group.
    • Let your hotel know if the room has any problems. If there are wires where there shouldn’t be, cracks or broken flooring and so on, let the hotel know and ask to be moved.
