We have all come across the term paraplegia but can become a little perplexed at the term quadriplegia. A solicitor will no doubt be familiar with this term as such a professional would have dealt with many cases associated with such a condition which also referred as tetraplegia. In a nutshell, this medical term relates to an injury which has caused serious injury to the neck of the spine.

    Life long injuries

More than often, such disabilities are caused via a road accident, sports injury or as a result of a work based incident. If paralysis was caused through someone behaving irresponsibly, a solicitor should be consulted.

The extent of the disabilities depend upon the sector of the spine which received the greatest trauma. Basically, the further upwards, the greater the extent of physical impairment. Sadly, some individuals will rely upon a wheelchair for the rest of their life. This could encourage sores through continuous sitting.

Such sores could become susceptible to bacteria which could cause the region to become septic. If this seeps into the bloodstream, the sufferer may require permanent feeding tubes and catheters. If these are not replaced regularly sepsis could reoccur and become fatal.
