"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    RSI injury

If you pick up an RSI injury in the workplace through no fault of your own, then Accident Advice Helpline can give you any guidance you require, and help you to raise a personal injury claim for compensation.

Back injury study by the HSE

Back in 2006, the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) conducted a major study here in the UK to research into the incidence of back pain in the workplace. They discovered that people who are employed in the manual handling sector, were the most likely to sustain this sort of RSI injury. It turned out that one in five workers who experienced work related injuries, suffered from back pain – a statistic that is neither good for the individual, or the employer.

Back injury is a major cause of absence from work

This study carried out by the HSE discovered that there were an estimated 4.9 million working days lost per annum due to back injury. This equates to 1 in every 6 days being lost to a work related back injury. The total time a worker was forced be absent from the workplace per back related RSI injury incident. was an average 19 days. It was also estimated that the overall cost to the NHS ran out at approximately £5 billion per year.
