Eden is actually in Cumbria (no doubt you will be pleased to know that) and of course, it is also the name of the Eden Project which is in Cornwell. If you visit Eden in Cumbria, you may well think that you have stumbled into paradise as the countryside is breathtakingly beautiful. It is in the Eden Valley in an Area of outstanding Natural Beauty and the Lake District National Park. However, just as there was the serpent in the Biblical Garden of Eden, so there are road traffic accidents in Eden as they can occur everywhere, even in the most idyllic of spots.
There are many myths and legends in Eden and the surrounding area, including the one that the castle of Pendragon was built by the father of King Arthur, Uther Pendragon. It is said that his death was due to the Saxons poisoning the well after even his magician Merlin could not divert the waters of the River Eden to create a moat around the castle. However, the ruined castle that tourists see today is a Norman one, which was built on the site of another castle.
Road traffic accidents in Eden
In summer the roads in the Lake District can be congested and there can be road traffic accidents in Eden and its environs. Some car accidents aren’t serious and later can prove to be quite amusing, although you must have a sense of humour to appreciate them. Insurance companies and the police must laugh some times when they hear a motorist say that the smashed windscreen was caused by a frozen squirrel which fell from a tree and landed in the passenger seat. This caused the passenger to scream and the driver to hit a “stationary” tree which damaged the front of the car.
