    Peterborough car accident claims

If you have had a very serious accident, like the kind that lead to Peterborough car accident claims, then you should always call an ambulance to come and pick you up and get you to a hospital, or in some cases the air ambulance could be needed. Any injury where you are losing a lot of blood, or think that you may be seriously injured in any other way, requires immediate medical attention, and you should not go home first.

However, if you have just had a minor accident in which you have sustained cuts and bruises, or even something like a sprain, you should be able to manage the pain until you get home so that you can wait and see whether or not you require medical attention.

    • Take a painkiller. Although when you are suffering from a very serious injury you might think that nothing will work but a strong painkiller, there is a reason that aspirin and paracetamol are still so popular. Just a couple of over-the-counter painkillers can make the pain much less for you, making it easier for you to get home.
    • Try deep breathing. When you are in pain you often catch your breath and don’t breathe properly, which can lead to you feeling the pain even worse, or passing out because your body isn’t getting enough oxygen. Focus on your breathing, ensuring that you breathe in deeply and out much faster, and this will also take your mind off the pain.
    • Distract yourself. If you are with other people get them to talk to you, or otherwise try to think of something else. Try counting or looking out for things or anything which stops you thinking about the pain that you are in.
    • Try ice. If you can get ice then you can put this on any swelling or bruising and this will help to stop inflammation and also naturally ease the pain. Heat can be used in the same way, but shouldn’t be used immediately after any injury as it can make swelling worse.
