If you think you can file a personal injury compensation claim, but aren’t sure about how to do it, contact us at Accident Advice Helpline. We can help with all personal injury compensation claims in South Staffordshire.
Criteria for making a claim
To make a claim for personal injury compensation you have to be able to prove that:-
- you were not responsible for the accident in which you sustained your injuries;
- another person’s negligence or recklessness caused the accident; and
- you were treated for your injuries as soon as was possible after the accident.
Need help with personal injury compensation claims in South Staffordshire?
For injuries arising from accidents that happened within the British Isles, you normally have three years from their dates to make a claim. However, there are some accidents, and so the injuries that result from them, that have to be claimed for within months rather than years.
When the limitation period is up for filing a claim, you would need to prove that there were exceptional circumstances that prevented you from filing the claim within the set time period.
To find out how long you actually have left to file your potential claim, contact us now at Accident Advice Helpline.
How much compensation might I get?
We can’t tell you with any degree of accuracy how much compensation you might be awarded for a successful claim. There are so many factors to be taken into consideration, including your personal circumstances, the severity of your injuries and so on.
You may be awarded general damages for the pain and suffering your injuries caused you as well as loss of amenity. This is awarded if you can no longer do something which you enjoyed doing before your accident. You may, for example have been a keen golfer, but can no longer play.
Special damages are given for expenses which you would not have had but for your injury. These cover the costs of care, treatment and other expenses related to your injury.
