Making personal injury compensation claims in North Yorkshire

If you have had an accident in, or live in North Yorkshire, you may be able to file one of the personal injury compensation claims in North Yorkshire which are available for people who can prove that the accident they were injured in was not their fault. In order to file a claim you would also have to prove that your accident was the fault of another person and their negligence or recklessness.

What type of accidents can I make a claim for?

Basically you can make a personal injury compensation claim for injuries sustained in any type of accident. With help and advice from us at Accident Advice Helpline, you must be able to prove, however, that another person was responsible for your accident.

You can claim for injuries arising from car accidents, slips, trips and falls (wherever they might have occurred), and a whole variety of other types of accident. However as there has to be a person to make a claim against then you can’t claim if a wild animal caused your accident.

How long do I have to make my claim?

Usually, for accidents that happen in the British Isles, you have three years from their dates to file a claim. This is not always true though. There are some accidents and the injuries arising from them that must be claimed for within months of the accident’s occurrence.

When the limitation period for a claim has elapsed, it is difficult to make a claim. You would have to prove that exceptional circumstances prevented you from filing it within the specified period. So the sooner you find out how long you have left to file your potential claim, the better. You can find this out by contacting us at Accident Advice Helpline.

How much compensation might I get?

Unfortunately, we can’t tell you exactly how much you could get in compensation if your claim is successful, and neither can anyone else. It is difficult to work out the amount of compensation you could receive because all accidents, their injuries and your personal situation are unique.

You can, however, get a rough estimate of the amount you could receive in compensation if you take our 30 Second Test. When you see the figure on your screen, we hope you will contact us at Accident Advice Helpline immediately.
