If you’re looking to claim personal injury compensation then money may be one of your biggest concerns. That’s why many people choose ‘no win, no fee’ lawyers, but is this the best option for finding Norfolk accident claim solicitors who can help you with your case.

‘No win, no fee’ has been in common usage ever since 2000 when legal aid was removed from the majority of personal injury claims. As the name implies it ensures that if you do not win your case you will not have to pay a single penny.

The idea is that it shifts the risk from your shoulders and onto your law firm who should in theory be better equipped to cope with it. However, there are other options and some people might not trust the concept of ‘no win, no fee’.

    Can you trust it?

When people see offers such as this there is a temptation to become a little cynical. This is because we think it somehow implies a lesser standard of service or it’s hiding something more sinister. Many people assume it contributes to a ‘give it a go’ mentality which sees people making claims which would otherwise stand very little chance of being successful. However, that view is not justified.

Because a law firm is offering ‘no win, no fee’, they are making a statement of confidence about the quality of service they can offer. They are so confident that they can win their case that they are willing to say that they will not expect to be paid unless they win the case. Equally, they will be more responsible about which cases they take on – if they accept a case which does not have much chance of winning, they will not get paid, so it’s in their interests to only take on cases which have a good chance of success.

    Other options

‘No win, no fee’ is not the only option. You could forgo it in which case there is a possibility that you may find a firm willing to offer lower success fees. However this accepts a considerable risk and is not always cheaper.

You might also take out claims insurance which will cover you in case you do not win. However, this involves paying premiums and there may well be exceptions which may limit the amount they are willing to pay.

    Getting the right lawyer

Most importantly, when finding Norfolk accident claim solicitors, you should ensure that the people you select are up to the job. Personal injury law is a complex business, which is why you’ll need people who have the right skills and experience to help you out.
