"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Non fault injury claims

Non fault injury claims can be vital for injured victims of accidents to get some sort of normality back into their lives, even if it is a different normality to before their accident.

Serious injuries can change victim’s lives forever, as well as the lives of their families and those close to them. Just imagine for a moment how you would cope if:

    • You lost a leg or maybe an arm
    • You were badly scarred on your face by a burn or scald injury
    • You lost your sight or hearing
    • Your brain was damaged to such an extent you could no longer look after yourself

These are just a few examples of some of the worst injuries, but they happen to people every day in the UK.

Who settles non fault injury claims?

If you have been injured in an accident that was not your own fault sometime in the last three years, and your injuries needed the attention of a medical professional, then you could be entitled to claim compensation.

Most accident situations are covered by some form of insurance, something we all pay for in our annual premiums. Although non fault injury claims are made against whoever was to blame for the accident, it is usually their insurers that pay your compensation.

What types of accidents are covered?

All accidents come within the scope of compensation claims, as long as they comply with the above rules. However, some of the more common ones are:

    • Road traffic accidents
    • Accidents in the workplace
    • Slips trips and falls
    • Industrial diseases
    • Accidents in educational facilities

Of course, accidents happen in other places as well. There is nowhere that you cannot be injured because of the actions of someone else.
