Do you need non fault accident help following a car crash caused by someone else?
If the other driver’s insurance company has accepted that their policyholder was to blame for the accident, that insurance company will usually arrange for your car to be repaired using one of their authorised repairers. The insurance company may also arrange a courtesy car for you to use while your own car is being repaired.
This is the quickest and easiest way to get your car back on the road because it means that you don’t have to spend time getting estimates from different garages. However, it doesn’t address the issue of compensation for any injuries you may have sustained during the accident.
Claiming compensation for injuries sustained in a non fault accident
You do not have to prove who was at fault if you are involved in a non fault accident, so in theory it is easier to claim compensation for any injuries you have sustained. However, you still have to quantify the amount of your loss, which could include amounts for:
- Pain and suffering
- Out-of-pocket expenses
- Loss of wages
- Future losses
It is important to keep receipts so you can prove any out-of-pocket expenses you’ve had in recovering from a non fault accident. Importantly, remember to keep your past payslips if you have lost any wages as a result of having to take unpaid time off as a result of your injury.
Why you need non fault accident help to claim compensation for an injury
You may not have to prove blame if you have been injured in a non fault accident and the other person has admitted that the accident was their fault, but you will still need to quantify the amount of your loss and that is where an expert can make a big difference. A specialist personal injury solicitor will know exactly what you can claim for and will ensure that you do not forget anything.
Also, although the amount of compensation that is awarded varies because each compensation claim is different, an experienced personal injury compensation solicitor will also know what level of compensation to expect from different types of injury and will be able to make sure you are not short-changed.
Accident Advice Helpline (AAH) works with hundreds of solicitors that specialise in personal injury compensation claims. All of these solicitors work on a no win, no fee basis so you do not need to worry about unexpected legal bills. AAH has been helping people with their personal injury compensation claims for over fifteen years. Its patron is Esther Rantzen, a consumer champion for the UK and TV personality.
Most claims can be processed by telephone. Claimants do not usually need to attend court, although they may need to attend a medical assessment to determine the level of their injuries. Call AAH on their freephone numbers 0800 689 0500 or 0333 500 0993 from a mobile.
