    What is a personal injury?

A personal injury is a legal term used to describe an injury to the body, mind or emotions. The term is usually used when the injury has been caused by negligence, carelessness or error on the part of a third party.

What is a no win no fee* arrangement?

Legal aid for personal injury cases has been abolished since 2000 and was replaced by the no win no fee* arrangement.

A conditional fee agreement or ‘no win no fee*’ arrangement as it is commonly known is an arrangement between a solicitor and their client. The solicitor will take on the personal injury case on the understanding that if the claim for compensation is unsuccessful then the client does not have to pay the solicitor’s fees.

What kind of no win no fee* accidents can compensation be claimed for?

Compensation for any type of accident that caused you to have a personal injury can be claimed for on the no win no fee* arrangement. It can be a car accident, accident at work, slip or fall, even medical negligence cases. The personal injury solicitor will require that the accident occurred within the last three years and that it can be proven that the accident was not your fault.

How can I find a no win no fee* accidents solicitor?

Not all solicitors will offer the no win no fee* arrangement. You can search for a solicitor on the internet or the Yellow Pages. One of the easiest ways to find a no win no fee* accident solicitor is to contact Accident Advice Helpline. We have a vast network of personal injury solicitors all over the UK, and importantly all of the solicitors that work with us work on a no win no fee* basis. We will match you to a solicitor who we think will best handle your type of case.

How long will it take for my claim to be settled?

Your no win no fee* accidents solicitor will be able to advise you on how long they envisage it will take to settle your claim. It does depend on a number of factors, including the severity of your injuries, complexity of the case and whether fault is admitted by the third party. Generally it will take a couple of months, however some cases may take longer to settle. In cases that are taking longer to settle your solicitor may arrange for an interim payment to be made to you. This should help you with the financial burden you will be experiencing due to the accident and your injuries.
