Getting injured when you’re on holiday is no fun, but it happens to plenty of people, and a New Forest car accident is not uncommon. If you’ve picked up an injury through no fault of your own, the only good news is that you may be eligible to get compensation depending on the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The New Forest is one of Britain’s largest national parks
The New Forest is a popular holiday destination for people from all over Britain. It’s an area of outstanding natural beauty, and one of the largest national parks here in the UK. Holiday makers flock here with their tents/caravans, and also to catch the ferry which goes across to the Isle of Wight from Yarmouth. There’s plenty of wild life here in the New Forest too, the most famous of which are the New Forest ponies which are free to roam the park. They’re kept within the park’s boundaries by strategically places cattle grids across the road.
The replacement of the capital grids
All of the cattle grids within the New Forest are currently being replaced on account of how the grids are working their way loose from the steel girders to which they are fixed. This can create gaps, which are dangerous to anyone or anything crossing them.
New Forest ponies
The New Forest ponies are one of the most well recognised symbols of this national Park. Most people believe them to be wild animals, but the truth of the matter is that they are all owned by local people. They are one of nine recognised breeds of mountain and moorland ponies here in the UK. Although the earliest written records of their existence go back to 300 A.D., they originated long before then.
The danger of wildlife wandering into the road
You have to keep your eyes open when you’re driving through the new Forest. Horses, deer and cattle can wander onto the roads and there’s the other ever present danger of holidaymakers being distracted looking at the scenery and wildlife, driving slowly, and in some areas manoeuvring caravans and trailers around. All of these things can create hazards that result in road traffic accidents.
