"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Esther Rantzen

    National injury

People are injured up and down the country on a daily basis, in accidents that were not their own fault.

    These injuries can arise from:

    • Road traffic accidents
    • Slips, trips and falls in public places
    • Accidents in your place of work

They range in severity from minor injuries such as cuts and bruises to more severe injuries such as broken bones and even lost limbs. Some accidents result in injuries from which there will be a full recovery, but some accidents result in permanent damage.

    Compensation for injuries

When you have been injured in an accident and the accident was somebody else’s fault, you could be entitled to compensation. This compensation will include an amount for the actual injury and your pain and suffering, but it can also include an amount to cover any lost wages and other expenses that you have incurred as a result of the accident. It is important to keep receipts and other documentation so you can prove the amount of your loss.

If you will not fully recover from your injury, your compensation will also include an amount for your future losses. This could be an amount for lost wages in the future, for instance, if your injury will affect what jobs you will be able to do. It may also include an amount for any ongoing medical care that you will require.

How to claim compensation for an injury

There is nothing to stop you claiming compensation on your own, but you are more likely to succeed if you use a national injury law firm. One that specialises in injury claims will have much more experience of presenting a compensation claim than a non-specialist law firm.

That firm will be able to help you to present your claim more professionally, and in doing so, it is more likely that you will receive the full amount of compensation that you deserve for your injury.

    National injury claims law firms
