How do we work out compensation entitlement?
How much compensation in the Isles of Scilly? When it comes to compensation, there are two things that you will be able to claim compensation for:
- General compensation
- Compensation for financial losses. You will not be able to claim compensation for a financial loss unless you are successful with your general compensation claim.
General compensation is the base amount of compensation that you will be able to claim. You can think of this as compensation for the ‘pain and suffering’ of being injured. General compensation is based on the severity of your injuries. The more severe they are, the more compensation you will be entitled to claim.
In order to claim general compensation, or any compensation through Accident Advice Helpline for that matter, you will need to provide us with a medical report which outlines the severity of your injuries. If you can’t provide us with a medical report, we will not be able to assist you with your compensation claim.
In addition to this, a few people may also be able to claim compensation for financial losses. This compensation is all about ensuring that a person receives money for any expenses which can reasonably be tied into the injuries that they have suffered. For example, this may include compensation for any time that a person has had to take away from work, or compensation for any reasonable medical or travel expenses related to the injury suffered.
