"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

How much can relatives get in compensation if you die?

Every day in the UK, some innocent people end up being involved in accidents they did nothing to cause. Most of the time, these people recover and go back to their normal lives. Yet while some might potentially receive more serious injuries, others pay the ultimate price for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. While deaths in accidents are rare, it is reasonable for someone to ask “ how much can relatives get in compensation if you die?”

Serious injuries might lead an individual to die in the accident itself, whereas in other cases they may lose their life later, when treatment fails to help them recover. If another person was responsible for causing the accident, compensation could be payable to those left behind.

    Fatal accident compensation

There is no pre-determined figure that is paid in this situation. There are many variables to consider, but dependants of the deceased will have a right to claim, as will close relatives connected to the person. The estate of the deceased might also potentially have a claim. As you can see, there could be one or more people who have a right to claim in this instance.

Any accident could potentially lead to an accident claim being put forward. When doing so, the best advice will come from those who have experience in dealing with the claims. This applies just as much when someone has been killed, because only solicitors experienced in handling these claims will have the depth of knowledge needed to reach a successful conclusion for the people they are representing.

The loss of a family member is devastating and many people find it hard to come to terms with the loss. It might also mean a loss of income for those left behind, especially a partner or dependents.
