    Minimum compensation

Can I claim compensation for criminal acts?

If you have been injured due to being involved in a criminal act against you, you could be entitled to anything from minimum compensation to maximum compensation. As long as your injury occurred in the past three years and the criminal accident or injury wasn’t your fault, Accident Advice Helpline can process your claim with our trained lawyers.

Injuries sustained by the victims of crime come in many forms. This can be through physical injuries – beatings, stabbings or shootings. For many however, the real damage is the emotional trauma inflicted by violent crimes. Criminal acts can make a person suffer from severe mental upset.

Your compensation claim can be in the thousands

While your compensation may be one of the minimum compensation pay outs, the maximum can be as much as £500,000. Your assigned lawyer will process the details of your claim and talk you through how much you may be entitled to. It will help your claim hugely if you have had to seek medical assistance for any physical injuries and if you have any proof or witnesses, such as photographs or friends and family. The simple act of witnessing a violent crime can trigger severe emotional trauma and we take this into consideration.

Even if you haven’t been physically assaulted yourself, stepping in to aid someone who is being subjected to a violent attack can help save innocent lives; however, it can also result in injuries to yourself as you attempt to divert the criminals’ attention. Ensure that any violent attack you have been involved in is reported to the police to avoid receiving the minimum compensation.
