    Meniscus tear claims advice

A meniscus tear is a painful and debilitating knee injury. It can be caused by twisting the knee while playing sport, lifting a heavy object or slipping off a kerb. A simple fall can cause a meniscus tear.

If you’ve been involved in an accident and suffered this injury then you may be able to claim compensation if the accident wasn’t your fault.

    Accidents at work

Some jobs involve lifting and moving heavy objects. If you work in this environment your employer must ensure that your health and safety is not put at risk. Proper training should be given in how to safely lift and move heavy objects. Special equipment should be provided, such as a fork lift truck, to avoid back and knee injuries. Employees have a responsibility to follow the safety regulations set by their employer.

    Accidents in a public place

If you suffer a meniscus tear in an accident in a public place that you believe wasn’t your fault, you need to speak to Accident Advice Helpline. If you’ve wrenched you knee by fallling down the poorly maintained steps of a public building then you may have a claim against the Local Authority. If you’ve slipped off a broken kerbstone in the high street the same applies. Wet floors in restaurants can cause accidents if there are no warning signs.

There are many ways in which you might suffer a meniscus tear and it’s always a good idea to get some legal advice if the accident wasn’t your fault.
