Medway is a conurbation and unitary authority found nominally within the boundaries of the ceremonial county of Kent, in the south east of England. The area, colloquially known as the Medway Towns, was officially formed in 1998 when the City of Rochester-upon-Medway amalgamated with Gillingham Borough Council and part of Kent County Council to form Medway Council, a unitary authority independent of Kent County Council.
Settlements And Features Of Medway
There are a number of notable settlements within Medway, including the five largest towns of Strood, Rochester, Gillingham, Chatham and Rainham. Besides these there are also a large number of villages and small settlements which tend to have their own parish councils, and include the likes of Frindsbury, Brompton and Walderslade.
Besides these settlements Medway is also notable for being home to part of the North Kent Marshes, which are an area of environmentally significant wetland habitat. In recent years Medway has also become a part of the Thames Gateway Development Project and is now the home of a shared campus of the Universities of Greenwich and Kent, and the Canterbury Christ Church University.
The Population Of Medway
According to the latest available census data, the unitary authority area of Medway is home to approximately 265,000 people, at a population density of 3,600 per square mile. Having such a high population density inexorably means that the area will also see a higher than average number of accidents and injuries. It is for that reason, therefore, that residents of the area should pay attention as we turn our focus onto Medway compensation claims.
Medway Compensation Claims
As with other areas of the UK, in Medway compensation could be available if you have suffered an injury that was definitively somebody else’s fault. This is the case so that these Medway compensation claims proceedings can provide a means of recourse for victims who wish to gain some recompense for physical, emotional and financial pain that they have suffered through no fault of their own.
