Manchester no-win, no-fee* accident claim

If you had a serious accident at work, which meant that you had to take quite a long time off, it is perfectly natural to be nervous about heading back into the workplace when you have finally recovered from your injuries.

Going back to work after an injury

In some circumstances it will simply not be worth your while to try to get back into the workplace after your injury, if you have suffered an extremely traumatic or life-changing accident, for example, or if your employer has not been very good about resolving the situation afterwards. However, if you do want to get back into the office then it’s up to you, and you should do what you can to stay calm on your first day back.

  • Don’t try to do too much. Going back to work is already a big step, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself to do well or achieve much on the first day. If you can just see the day through, this is all you need to do on your first few days back.
  • Speak to your boss in advance. Let your boss know what your concerns are and try to find out as much as you can from them what has changed since you’ve been away and what you can expect coming back in. This should really help to ease any concerns you are having.
  • Prepare the night before. To get your day off the the best possible start, set out your clothes, lunch and bag/briefcase the night before. This means that all you have to do when you wake up is get up and go to work, knowing that you have everything you need with you.
  • Listen to what you are told. On your first day back you need to listen to everyone else to find out what is happening and what you need to be doing, even if you were the boss before you left.
