Manchester compensation

Manchester is a city, major urban centre and world famous settlement found in the north west of England. The city is located within a larger wider urban area and can be found in the south-central part of North West England, fringed by the Cheshire Plain to the south, the Pennines to the north and east. Manchester was historically a part of the county of Lancashire but has since become its own unitary authority and has seen areas of Cheshire incorporated into that unitary authority area during the 20th century.

A brief history of Manchester

The recorded history of human settlement in the area now known as Manchester, begins in the Roman era with the establishment of the Roman fort of Mamucium in around 79 AD. This fort inspired the growth of a settlement around it which sustained and continued to expand long after the Romans themselves had pulled back from British shores.

The slow and gradual growth of the settlement which came to be known as Manchester continued until the 19th century, when the settlement really exploded into life. This was as a result of the Industrial Revolution which sparked a huge amount of economic development and population growth within the city.

It was at this time that Manchester’s location and proximity to major transit routes such as roads, railway, canals and even sea trade routes, helped it to grow into the city which we would recognise today.

Modern day Manchester

Today, Manchester is a metropolitan superpower and massive urban centre which has an estimated population of around 520,000 residents. What’s more, the city itself is part of the United Kingdom’s second most populous urban area which has a population of 2.55 million. There is no question, therefore, that accidents and injuries will be common occurrences in the city and that as a result in Manchester compensation claims will also be more likely than in many other areas of the UK.
