Safety in hot weather and when to find a good law firm
Hot weather is usually enjoyed by the general public, especially in the UK where we do not get nearly as much hot weather as other countries. In the UK, the lack of hot weather most of the year means that we need to be extra careful when the weather does turn hot in the summer. Not being used to it means that people can make mistakes in the heat which lead to serious injuries or ongoing health problems. If you are going on holiday to a hot country, or are currently experiencing a heatwave wherever you live, here are some tips for staying safe.
- Relax. In very hot weather, it may feel impossible to keep up with your normal pace. When it is very hot, you shouldn’t even try, and make a concerted effort to slow down and relax, saving any strenuous activities for the early morning or late at night when the air is cooler
- Hydrate often. Make sure that you are drinking plenty of water, fruit juice and non-caffeinated beverages throughout the day when it is hot. Hot weather causes you to sweat, which can cause you to dehydrate at a startling rate if you do not keep drinking
- Wear appropriate clothing. Many people feel that less is more with regards to clothing in hot weather. This is not the case, and long, loose layers will actually be cooler and prevent sunburn
- Turn on the air conditioning. It is easy for the body to overheat and struggle when the heat continues over a long period of time without breaking at any point. Try to stick to air conditioned places or make sure that you have a large fan to keep you cool when the heat doesn’t let up
