The Turner Contemporary Centre

In April 2011 the Turner Contemporary Art Gallery opened in Margate. This project is a long-held dream of John Croft, Chairman of the Margate Civic Society. He wanted to pay homage to the connection the nineteenth century painter JMW Turner felt with Margate and who described the Thanet skies as the “loveliest in all Europe”.

JMW Turner 1775(?) – 1851

Commonly known as “the painter of light”, John Mallord William Turner is considered Britain’s greatest landscape painter. Working in watercolour and oil, he created semi-abstract works full of light and atmosphere. After travelling in Europe he painted mostly in the East and South East of the UK. His last words before he died were, “The sun is God.”

Shows at the Turner Contemporary

The Turner centre is situated on Margate’s seafront. Besides being a monument to one of Britain’s greatest ever landscape artists, the Turner Contemporary hosts modern artists, shows and cultural events. One well-known contemporary name featured by the gallery is Tracey Emin, who works in multi-media, including: watercolour, photography, neon and fabric.

How much will it cost me?

All our solicitors work on a no win no fee* basis, so you won’t have to pay any money up front. Your solicitor will explain how the no win no fee* process works, since the old-style legal aid is no longer available. Remember that fees and costs are not the same thing, so again, ask your legal advisor to explain.

Will I have to go to court?

Not necessarily. Most claims these days are handled online and by correspondence. Once we have prepared the forms, and you have checked and signed them, we will take it from there. We’ll try not to bother you with any fiddly details. If you have been injured and it was not your fault, you could be entitled to compensation money to tide you over until you are back on your feet again.
