    Injury solicitors in Burnley

Burnley in Lancashire is a large, yet friendly kind of town. With a popular market and all manner of family activities, restaurants and cafés, it’s a good place to be. There are some specific issues that could very well require personal injury lawyers. One of those issues is food poisoning.

    What is food poisoning?

Food poisoning is defined as an illness – and it can be extremely serious. At the very least it will make you feel unwell, and cause you to take time off work or limit your income in some way. At its worst, you could have an extended hospital stay. It is caused by eating food that is somehow contaminated with harmful bacteria. Most usually this is either e. coli or salmonella, although other bacteria is also harmful.

The problems usually begin anywhere up to two days after eating the contaminated food, in some cases it can even be a few weeks, although these are rare. You will feel nauseous and you will experience vomiting and diarrhoea as your body tries to rid itself of the contamination. You may also experience stomach cramps, chills, a temperature, aching muscles and loss of appetite. You could be confined to bed through lack of energy.

Although many cases don’t need treatment, in some cases a GP will be needed, or even a hospital. If you are over the age of 60, if it is a child or baby who is suffering, if you are pregnant or if you have diabetes, cancer or other types of long-term conditions, you should immediately see your GP.
