    Injury Solicitor in Torrance

Torrance is a village in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland that is situated just eight miles from the centre of the city of Glasgow. The village’s name is thought to either derive from the Gaelic An Toran, meaning ‘Under the Hills’, or the Brythonic Torr-Ant, meaning ‘Side of Valley’. Weaving was amongst the earliest economic activity within the village but this was soon superseded by limestone, iron ore and coal extraction, industries which quickly began to utilise the wharf of the Forth and Clyde Canal that can be found within the village.

This relatively lucrative industrial activity continued throughout the 19th century and at the end of this century the railway came to Torrance to further enhance the economic and transport links to the outside world. The village did not manage to achieve rapid growth however, and according to the 2001 census had a population of just 2,480 but this is expected to have risen in the 2011 data. This relatively small population does therefore mean that for an injury solicitor Torrance is not a common source of personal injury compensation claims.

As mentioned above, for an injury solicitor Torrance is a relatively unlikely source for a personal injury compensation claim but this does not mean that the residents of the village could never make a claim. This is true as for an injury solicitor Torrance residents are equally entitled to claim compensation as those who live in Glasgow, London or any other larger urban centres. This in turn means that wherever you live, you will find the following information about the claims process to be invaluable.

Why and When Can you Claim Compensation?

The law states that if you are injured or fall ill and somebody else was demonstrably to blame then you are entitled to seek personal injury compensation. This compensation is available as a means of recompense for the physical, emotional and financial hardships that the victim has suffered as a result of their ailment. In the majority of cases you must begin claims proceedings within three years of the incident in question or else your entitlement to claim lapses. This is not the case however, for claims which regard industrial disease like asbestos poisoning or which relate to injuries to minors, where different time restrictions are imposed.
