What are the symptoms of emphysema?
Unfortunately, emphysema does not get better; over time, the condition gradually worsens and as yet, there is no cure. The dust which you have inhaled over time has settled on the lining of the lung and over decades, has damaged the lining of the lung so that it is no longer able to function correctly.
You do not need our injury solicitor in Crystal Palace to tell you, that having emphysema makes breathing difficult; the body suffers from the lack of oxygen and life can become very uncomfortable for the sufferer.
Many sufferers develop not only breathlessness, but also fatigue and a persistent cough. Eventually, many people need apparatus within the house to help them breath and many people find they become housebound as a result.
Could Accident Advice Helpline and our specialist injury solicitor in Crystal Palace help you?
If you worked within an industry that was dusty or possibly the use of chemicals or smoke and you were not provided with face masks, or the area in which you worked was not adequately ventilated, the likelihood is the emphysema may have been caused by your working environment.
As with other compensation claims, you will need to ensure you have received a medical diagnosis and treatment for emphysema. In some cases, your doctor or consultant will provide the link between your condition and the working environment in which you may have worked for many years.
For most other cases, clients of injury solicitors in Crystal Palace have to have lodged their compensation claim within 3 years of the date of the accident; however, with industrial disease compensation cases, you have 3 years to lodge a complaint from the point of diagnosis. The law considers this a reasonable time within which to make a link between your emphysema and your working conditions.
Not sure whether you have a claim for compensation for an industrial disease? Rather than let the opportunity to claim pass you by, call AAH on 0800 689 0500 to find if and how we could help you.
