    Injury lawyers in Normanby

You may be searching for injury lawyers in Normanby or ones based anywhere else in the British Isles because you have been injured in an accident which you and your injury lawyer can prove was no fault of yours. You usually have three years in which to make a personal injury compensation claim, although in the case of some accidents and injuries, you only have two years to file a claim.

You may also be looking for injury lawyers in Normanby or elsewhere because you have been diagnosed with an illness which you can prove was the result of another person’s negligence. You have three years in which to make your personal injury compensation claim for such an illness from the date you were first diagnosed with it.

Some exceptions to the 3 year rule

If you have been injured while on a sea-going vessel, on an aircraft or while at an airport, you only have two years in which to make your personal injury compensation claim. You can claim for accidents and injuries which occur at airports almost anywhere in the world; the country must be a signatory to the Montreal Convention however.

If you were injured in a violent crime in England, Scotland or Wales, and the police were informed, you can make a personal injury compensation claim through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). However, you only have two years from the date of the attack in which to file your claim.

    Claiming through the CICA

Although you can download and complete a form from the CICA website, you should consider hiring an expert criminal injuries lawyer to help you as the process can be complicated and lengthy.

You can claim from between £1,000 and £500,000 for your injuries through the CICA. However, you would need to know exactly how much you could reasonably expect for your injuries before accepting any amount offered. You can appeal against any decision made by the CICA, but you would need the services of an experienced criminal injuries lawyer to do so.
