A claim for an injury from a road accident that is deer-related will need the services of an Injury lawyer in West Dorset

The local district of West Dorset is situated in Dorchester in England and a road in the district has been placed in a list of the places where there is a high probability of being involved in a car accident related to an encounter with a deer in the south-west region. The roads in West Dorset that were referred to in the list was the A351 an A35 located in Wareham and Purbecks respectively.

The Deer Initiative or DI organisation compiled the list with the goal of making drivers more aware of the fact that there are more deers and thus, deer-related car accidents during this time in the year. During the months between October to December, many numbers of deer will be travelling to and from their rutting grounds as this is the autumn mating season.

A deer expert from the Deer Initiative has said that the largest species of deer are sika, red and fallow, and during the autumn they will increase their activity significantly. He also made it known that with daylight savings time during this time, peak traffic will fall at the same time as when deer activity is at its peak for the day.

Research on the numbers of deer-related accidents on roads in the UK is estimated to be somewhere between 40,000 and 74,000. Data has come from collisions between vehicles and deer compiled from the years 2008 to 2013. Other areas in the South West that were also noted as having numbers of deer-related road accidents are Haddon Forest and Forest of Dean.

The Deer Initiative has advised that drivers use their full-beam lights if they encounter a deer and there is no oncoming traffic as it will alert the deer on the road. However, the deer may become startled and freeze so it may take some time before the deer moves away from the road.
