A claim for an accident caused by a burst water main will need the help of an injury compensation lawyer in Surrey.

The county of Surrey is found in England and it borders the Greater London county. The county has been the site of a handful of incidents involving cars falling into sinkholes. It is thought that the sinkholes are caused by water pipes bursting and the water company has, for a long time, been implementing patchwork replacements when they have to fix a burst water main. Some have criticised this as there has been continued sinkhole accidents with three occurring in the last three years.

The latest sinkhole incident occurred on Guildford Road on the section of road between St Peter’s Hospital and Ottsershaw. This is the third water pipe incident since 2011 and there have been calls for the water company responsible for the water main, Affinity Water, to take more comprehensive and thorough action.

The water company, Affinity Water, is currently completing an investigation into the status of their pipe network between the Otter and McLaren roundabouts in the Ottershaw area, as it is believed that the age of the pipe network is to blame for the burst water pipes. A spokesman for the company has said that the investigation will be completed by the summer and will help them find out how much investment is needed to prevent future disruptions to the water pipe network. He added that the company takes safety very seriously and any issues that are discovered by the investigation will be addressed. However, Affinity Water did not confirm if there would be a wholesale replacement of the pipe on the road. The first sink hole incident that happened on the road was in October 2011 and the second occurred in September 2012 with a BMW car being swallowed by a sinkhole created by a burst water main.
