Making an injury claim in Stowmarket

    Injury claim in Stowmarket

Stowmarket is a small market town situated in Suffolk. The town is on the main railway line between London and Norwich.  The town takes its name from the Old English word stōw meaning ‘principal place’, and was granted a market charter in 1347 by Edward III.

If you live here and develop Fibromyalgia, you may need to make an injury claim. Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain syndrome that unlike arthritis, which causes joint pains, causes pain in the soft tissue around joints, in the skin and organs.  The pain is usually widespread and can vary greatly from patient to patient and also from day to day in the same patient.  Some patients experience other problems as well such as:

    • Sleeplessness
    • Tingling sensations
    • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
    • Irritable Bladder Syndrome
    • Headaches
    • Fatigue
    • Memory difficulties
    • Anxiety
    • Depression

There are now known tests to diagnosis the condition, so quite often it means months of suffering for the patient, before any sort of medication is given.  There is no known cure and it is a case of treating the symptoms to try and make life more comfortable for the sufferer.

Making an Injury claim in Stowmarket against employer’s liability insurance

Employer’s liability claims for fibromyalgia caused by work are not uncommon.

Most doctors believe that it is caused by sudden stress or trauma to the body such as a fall, car crash and is quite often associated with heavy lifting at work, such as a carer lifting a patient without the proper lifting equipment, or a warehouseman consistently lifting heavy boxes.

One of the biggest problems is the realisation of how bad the situation is, it does not always become apparent till many months later, when the person is in a lot of pain and usually unable to work because of it.  To start with, it can feel like a pulled muscle or perhaps a strained back. It is only as these don’t improve, as they should and the pain gets worse, that the syndrome is diagnosed.

It is the responsibility of your employer to try to make sure accidents don’t happen and that you are properly equipped to do your job, but if you have had an accident at work and consequently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, then you may be one of the many who has employers liability claims for fibromyalgia caused by work.
