Injury Claim in Motherwell

What to do about a colleague who is affecting your work, and how to make an injury claim against a colleague

You are in work to do a job, and to do that job to the very best of your ability. You get paid to get the job done and if something is affecting your work then really you are being paid for much less. Your employer won’t take long to notice that you are being paid for work, which isn’t being done as effectively as they would like, and thus you are more likely to lose your job if this is the case.

If you find that a colleague is affecting your job to the point where you aren’t doing it as well as you think you should, you must do something about the situation as soon as you can.

  • Talk to them. Your colleague may not even know that they are causing you hassle unless you tell them, and you are only harming yourself by keeping this quiet. Sit down quietly with your colleague, somewhere private so that they don’t feel embarrassed or like they are being picked on, and let them know what they are doing that is making life difficult for you.
  • Move away from them. If possible, you could always move away from this person so that you can do your work without them being in your way. Ask your employer if you can switch desks or simply move to a different part of the office if you can do this.
  • Talk to your employer. Although it isn’t the best idea to go to your employer with problems every time, if you feel that your colleague is making it hard to do your job properly, you should say something or you risk getting into trouble or even losing your job as a result of this person’s behaviour.
  • Work from home. If there is no way to work away from this person, suggest to your employer that you might work more effectively if you were allowed to work from home.
