Injury Claim Kirkham

The small town of Kirkham is located in the Borough of Fylde in Lancashire, in the North West of England. The town lies roughly half-way between the seaside resort of Blackpool and the city of Preston, which is just 11 miles distance from Kirkham. The surrounding area is mainly agricultural. Regular Stagecoach and Coastal Coaches bus services link Kirkham with other towns and villages.

There is evidence that the Fylde area might have been inhabited by human settlers as early as 8,000 BC. Kirkham itself is based on the remains of a Roman fort that once perched high above the Lancashire landscape on Carr Hill. The fort lay on the Roman road connecting Ribchester, another site of a fort, and the River Wyre that afforded Roman legionnaires easy access to the rest of the North West of England.

Like so many Lancashire towns, Kirkham’s industrial heritage is largely concerned with the textile industry. At some point in the past, there were no fewer than eleven mills and the sound of steam-driven looms must have permeated the entire town centre in the 19th century.

Perhaps rather surprisingly, Kirkham seems to be a firm fixture on the map of celebrity book signing tours. Many well-known and famous authors have appeared in book shops around town, from children’s author Jacqueline Wilson to comedienne Jo Brand and talk-show host Michael Parkinson to name but a few.

When autograph hunting becomes a pain in the neck

If you travelled from Blackpool to Kirkham on the A583 to attend a book-signing event held by your favourite author, and you had a road traffic accident that was caused by reckless and inattentive motorists, you could make an injury claim in Kirkham and expect compensation for your whiplash injury. During the impact of two vehicles colliding, the sudden violent jolt of the head can cause whiplash injuries to the neck because tendons and ligaments in the neck are overstretched or damaged.

Tenderness over the neck muscles, muscle spasms, stiffness and neck pain, a reduction in neck movement and frequent headaches are common symptoms of whiplash. An accident victim usually has to undergo a series of scans and tests, before their doctor can diagnose for sure that whiplash is the root of the problem. More often than not, whiplash gets better over time, and remaining active is proven to help during recovery rather than wearing a brace as GPs used to recommend.

Unfortunately, whiplash can last for six months of more and can turn into a chronic condition. If you suffered whiplash injuries in road traffic or sports accidents which were caused by somebody’s negligence, you can make an injury claim in Kirkham and expect to receive compensation for your pain and suffering and any loss of income.
