Indian restaurant trade the victims of substandard gas work

The Indian restaurant trade in Ashby-de-la-Zouch recently came under scrutiny by the HSE, when they were made aware of some sub standard work that had been carried out involving the gas supply at 2 Indian restaurants. The same contractor was involved in both instances, and they were not Gas Safe registered.

Restaurant proprietors and customers put at grave risk

The company in question supply and fit a range of industrial catering equipment. At the subsequent investigation that was orchestrated by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) it was discovered that similar illegal work had been carried out numerous restaurants across the Midlands and the South West. This work, not only endangered restaurant proprietors, but their customers too.

After the hearing, Graham Tompkins, an HSE inspector, said that it was only a matter of luck that no one had been killed or gravely injured as a direct result of the substandard work carried out by this company.
